About this tool
The random color palette generator builds a balanced five-color scheme each time you click. Colors are spaced around the wheel for pleasant contrast, so palettes feel designed rather than noisy. Tap any swatch to copy its HEX code, or copy the whole set for your CSS, design tool or moodboard.
A quick grounding in colour theory
A palette feels "designed" rather than random when its colours have a relationship on the colour wheel. The classic harmonies are:
- Complementary — two colours opposite each other (e.g. blue & orange). High contrast, energetic.
- Analogous — three neighbours (e.g. teal, green, lime). Calm and cohesive.
- Triadic — three evenly spaced colours. Vibrant but balanced.
Each colour is given as a HEX code such as #7B5CFF — two hex digits each for red, green and blue (00–FF, i.e. 0–255). Copy the hex straight into CSS, Figma, Canva or your slide theme.
Don't forget contrast and accessibility
A beautiful palette is useless if text on it can't be read. The WCAG accessibility guidelines ask for a contrast ratio of at least 4.5:1 between normal text and its background (3:1 for large text). Before you ship a palette, check your text/background pair in any free contrast checker. A common mistake is pairing two mid-tone brand colours for text and background — it looks elegant in the swatch but fails on a phone in sunlight.
Worked example: you generate #1FD8B4 (mint), #7B5CFF (violet) and a near-black #10122B. Use the dark tone for body text on a light surface, the violet for headings, and the mint as an accent for buttons — that keeps contrast high where it matters and saves the bold colours for small, deliberate touches.
